Home Access and MatchWare MindView



MindView 3 was recently chosen by BECTA as the mind mapping software of choice for the Home Access initiative. All 270,000 families eligible for the Home Access package will have MindView already loaded onto the computer.
The 270,000 families receiving the assistive technology bundle from Home Access will also receive Read&Write 9 GOLD,
a floating tool bar which assists with reading and writing, and iZOOM, a screen magnification tool, which both work in conjunction with MindView.

MindView 3

MindView is a visual study aid tool based on mind mapping theory that assists students with the research, organisation and planning of projects across the curriculum. MindView’s different layouts allow students of all levels to personalise how they structure information to enhance creativity, clarify thinking and improve memory.

Integration with Read&Write GOLD

MatchWare is delighted to be fully integrated with Read&Write 9 GOLD. Using the two packages together can allow students to further enhance their learning by using the dictionary, text to speech and screen masking functions. Understanding the need for flexibility within education has been key to MatchWare's success and therefore the Read&Write toolbar can be used as much or as little as the user requires whilst building their mind maps.

MindView 3 and Read&Write 9 GOLD work seamlessly together. Students using MindView 3 can benefit by having access to tools such as text-to-speech, a phonetic talking spell checker, homophone support, a talking dictionary, and output to a sound file.

As students type onto their mind map, Read&Write Gold will read their work back to them. The spell checker will not only correct any mistakes by giving dictionary definitions, but students can also benefit from the spelling log which will track patterns in their spelling over time. The ability to output to a sound file allows students to create an audio file of their notes which can be attached to the mind map enhancing understanding and file management.
