The highly anticipated release of MindView 6 re-enforces why MindView is the Industry Leader in Mind Mapping software. MatchWare focused on improving usability and productivity for all users by re-designing the software from the ground up. MindView 6 sets the NEW standard for mind mapping software with its streamlined Office 2013 interface, world class MS Office integration and powerful productivity and project management features. Your mind mapping sessions will be more engaging than ever before, GUARANTEED!
To better align MindView 6 with Microsoft Office, we have incorporated the “Backstage” file menu system into the interface. This replaces the pre-existing system in previous versions of MindView. When hitting the “File” button in the ribbon you will get a full screen view of the options in the File menu. This includes Templates, Exports, MindView Options, Sharing and more…
To assist in streamlining the learning curve for new users, MindView 6 includes a new “Quick Start” panel containing training videos on how to use MindView. The panel can be expanded or collapsed as needed.
MindView 6 contains several new Map and Outline styles. The styles are designed using a flat color and design scheme, aligning them more with the new Interface, the new MS Office look and feel, as well as current design trends.
MindView 6 includes brand new Icons using the flat color scheme utilized in the interface and new Map styles. This gives MindView 6 a fresh look, aligning it more with the new Interface, the new MS Office look and feel as well as current design trends.
To improve the user experience when working with items copied to the clipboard, MindView 6 now includes the “Paste Special” option like in MS Office. This is functional on Branch Text and in the Text Note Editor. Users can now define if they want to paste Unformatted Text or Rich Text (RTF).
MindView 6 displays defined branch data beneath the branch. Users can now edit such data directly in the branch data areas, rather than having to go to the Panels. This enhances the speed in which a file can be updated, improving the overall user experience.
When you start typing on a branch you can setup MindView 6 to predict the upcoming text based on different suggestion sources. This is similar to when you start typing in the search field in Google and it gives you suggestions for what you can search for. Users can configure the Predictive Text to work with custom sources such as a MindView Document, XML file, Database or Web service. Currently we have included the following examples: English Dictionary Database, Diseases Database, World Countries MindView Document, World Countries XML file, eBay, Amazon, Wikipedia, Yahoo, Google and Bing.
To better align our user experience with MS Office, when the Map, a Branch or a Text Note is right-clicked, you have access to a small context Menu Tool Bar containing fast editing for formatting text and properties.
For users that are running a large monitor or display with a high DPI, MindView now has an enhanced UI for bigger DPI sizes.
MindView 6 contains several new professionally designed Word templates.
MindView 6 has enhanced the MS Word import by now supporting embedded MS Office files when importing from a Word document.
MindView 6 allows users to open and edit MindView documents directly from Office 365 (SharePoint Online).
To make the Research and Citation experience more seamless, MindView 6 users can export and import the bibliography sources to and from a MindView Bibliography XML file.
Smart Nav is a powerful navigation module to assist users in navigating large maps. This is a small floating tool bar that contains individual features to assist users in locating specific branches or navigating to areas of the mind map.
As users begin to navigate and explore the Smart Nav, they can select the “Home” tool to “Zoom to 100%” and cancel all other Smart Nav tools.
This is an enhancement to the “Focus Mode” currently available in MindView. Smart Nav gives users quick access to the Focus Mode tool which focuses on a specific branch or group of branches.
Smart Nav contains a simple and effective way to “Zoom” in on a specific area. By dragging a fence with the mouse around a selected area of the map, MindView will zoom into that area.
Using the “Search” tool in Smart Nav, users can search for branches by name. When typing the search text into the Search Tool, MindView will suggest a list of branches found containing that text and highlight them in the map view. Users can also select a specific branch from the suggestion list drop down by clicking on the desired branch and MindView will scroll to that branch in the map view.
Users can now create their own Custom Columns which will be displayed in the Outline and Gantt views. The enhanced “Calculation” module now allows users to enter their custom text values and select them to be displayed in the Outline and Gantt Chart views as columns.
MindView 6 allows users to reorder the columns in the Outline and Gantt views. This combined with the Custom Columns feature allows users to organize and display data in a more effective manner for communicating and working with their project.
To promote a more dynamic experience using the Filters, we have created several of the most common Filters used as “Preset Filters” for quick access. Whenever one of these Filterable Properties such as a Milestone or a Resource has been used in the map, they will automatically appear in the Filter so that the user does not need to create them manually.
Milestones are used in project management to mark specific points along a project timeline. These points may signal anchors such as a project start and end date, a need for external review or input and budget checks, among others. In many instances, milestones do not impact project duration. Instead, they focus on major progress points that must be reached to achieve success.
When a user defines a Milestone in MindView, they will be able to apply a Preset Filter which will display or highlight only the defined Milestone(s) of the project.
Resources are required to carry out the project tasks. They can be people, equipment, facilities, funding, or anything else required for the completion of a project activity.
When a user defines a Resource in MindView, they will be able to apply a Preset Filter which will display or highlight only the defined Resource(s) of the project.
A critical path is the sequence of project network activities which add up to the longest overall duration. This determines the shortest time possible to complete the project.
The Critical path is automatically defined in MindView, and the user will be able to apply a Preset Filter which will display or highlight only the Critical Path items of the project.
Priority is a user defined ranking of the priority of an item in MindView.
When a user defines a Priority in MindView, they will be able to apply a Preset Filter which will display or highlight only the items of the project containing the selected Priority.
Completion is a user defined status of the completion of an item in MindView.
When a user defines a Completion level in MindView, they will be able to apply a Preset Filter which will display or highlight only the items of the project containing the selected completion level.
Overdue Tasks are defined as tasks in MindView that have either past their due date, or will not be completed by the assigned due date based on the current allocation of resources and effort.
Users can now apply a Preset filter displaying only the Overdue Tasks of the project.
Certain Tasks in the Gantt chart may need to be more visible than others. Users can now define bar heights of specific Tasks in the Gantt chart.
To enhance the usability and effectiveness of the Legend, it is now possible to Filter by legend items, either color or icon. Once a Color or Icon is added to the Legend, you can choose to “Filter” on that item directly from the Legend.
To enhance the usability and effectiveness of the Legend, it is now possible to Highlight by legend items, either color or icon. Once a Color or Icon is added to the Legend, you can choose to “Highlight” the items directly from the Legend rather than Filtering on them.
To enhance the usability and effectiveness of the Legend, it is now possible to apply existing Legend properties such as a color or icon to existing branches in the map view. By selecting a branch(s) in the map view, a user can navigate to the Format Painter option in the Legend and quickly apply the existing Legend properties to the selected branches(s).
As an Icon is added to a map, it will automatically be available in the Filter menu, allowing you to quickly Filter on that item.
In the previous versions of MindView, Calculation fields could only contain Numeric Values or Formulas displaying numeric values. It is now possible for Calculation fields to contain either a numeric value or a text value. By selecting Defaults, users can change the default Value type from Number to Text.
As a user adds items to the Calculation Module, a user would be able to create a Custom Filter utilizing the calculation Name as the Filter Property.
To help MindView 6 users that are capturing text and images to be used in their MindView projects, there is now a powerful Capture Bar available. This allows a user to capture an image or text from applications or websites, and if available, it will capture the bibliography information and automatically make a reference.
MindView 6 has improved Keyboard Navigation, allowing users to navigate the map using the keyboard keys.
It is now easier to select a branch in the mind map using the mouse.
It is now possible to Hyperlink directly to a file which is stored in the MatchWare Shared Workspace or SharePoint. The Hyperlink icon in the ribbon now contains quick access options for the MatchWare Shared Workspace and SharePoint.
MindView 6 is compatible with Multi touch support: pinch zoom, 2 finger pan, 2 finger tab to get context menu, Ribbon Touch mode (makes the Ribbon bigger which is ideal for touch screen devices).
