Paste Pictures Directly on Branches

MindView 5 allows you to paste pictures directly on branches. This means you can now use popular screen clipping tools like the Windows Snipping tool and easily add custom graphics to the branches of your mind map with a few quick clicks.

Improved Transitions

When zooming in and out, or navigating to different areas of the mind map, MindView 5 provides for a smooth transition. This helps viewers to easily follow along with movements made on screen, minimizing annoying distractions or jerky movements.

Enhanced Branch Editing

To improve the creation and brainstorming stages of the mind mapping process, MindView 5 has an optimized editing mode allowing you to quickly add or edit branch text.

Microsoft Office Integration

MindView 5 has made it easier to export to MS Office. When you attach MS Office files to the branches of your mind map, such as Excel spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentation, the attachments are now embedded upon export to MS Office. This improves communication and collaboration between teams, doing away with zipping files or making sure that you include your attached files with your final MS Office document.

MindView has always been an extremely powerful research and reference tool. MindView 5 has partnered with WorldCat and now allows users to manage sources and create citations directly in MindView. When you export to MS Word, citation information as well as the added sources are carried over and are formatted based on your desired settings. With standard templates such as APA, MLA, Chicago and more, users can reference and cite research, and create a polished Word document complete with a bibliography and formatted heading / font styles depending on the chosen template.

Excel – Constants are listed in a Legend

Having the ability to include constants greatly improves the calculation module introduced in MindView. Constants can be thought of as "X" being equal to a certain value. You can then call "X" in a later equation and run calculations based on its value. This is great for currency conversions or itemized budgets. When exporting to MS Excel, the constants are carried over and listed in a legend, improving the accuracy of your MS Excel export.

Defining, assigning, distributing and tracking tasks are an integral part of any project or action plan. MindView 5 has enhanced and simplified the integration with MS Outlook. It is now easier to access resources stored in Outlook Address books or Active Directories and include them in your MindView project. Export via MS Outlook with 1 click, distributing assigned tasks to the respective resources. Import task completion updates from resources with 1 click, streamlining the task management process and making you more efficient and productive.

MS Project – Improved Integration

MindView 5 now has the industry's best MS Project integration. MindView 5 now supports Costs, Work, Currency Symbols, Decimals, Effort, Fixed Duration, Fixed Work, Fixed Units and Inactive Tasks. This information is supported if you add it in MindView and export to MS Project, or if you import an MS Project file that contains this type of data.

MindView's Timeline view has proven extremely beneficial and is now even easier to use! With a unique Timeline Tools tab, you can quickly find Timeline commands to further customize your Timeline projects as needed.

Timeline – Changing Colors on Branches changes Colors on Duration Bars

The Timeline view has always been a great way to represent visually a project plan or sequence of events. To assist in easily visualizing the duration of each topic, MindView 5 now allows you to format the Event Flags and the corresponding duration bars will inherit the same color.

MindView's Outline view has always been a great way to quickly get a linear overview of your mind map. With a unique Outline Tools tab, you can quickly find Outline commands to further customize your Outline projects as needed.

Outline – Text Notes Displayed Directly Under Headings

When viewing a MindView project in the Outline view, MindView 5 now allows you to display the text notes directly under the branch name headings. This further relates the text notes to the respective branches enhancing the overview capability of a project when working in the Outline view.

Outline – Change Font Size in Outline Mode and Move Branches

Under the Outline Tools tab, you can now increase or decrease the font size used in the Outline view. This helps visually impaired viewers as well as in presentation scenarios when viewers are farther back from the presentation screen.

When re-arranging branches in the Outline view, you can now use the in-dent, out-dent, move-up and move-down icons in the Outline Tools tab to quickly rearrange topics as needed.

MindView's Gantt view has always been a powerful assistive tool for project managers to create a proper schedule. With the introduction of a unique Gantt Tools tab in MindView 5, you can quickly find Gantt Chart commands to further customize your Gantt Chart projects as needed.

Gantt Chart – Change Font Size in Outline

Under the Gantt Tools tab, you can now increase or decrease the font size used in the Outline. This assists visually impaired viewers and improves viewing capability when presenting a project in a setting where viewers are farther back from the presentation screen.

Gantt Chart – Show Today's Date

MindView 5 includes a usability feature helping project managers to quickly Show Today's Date when viewing or presenting a Gantt Chart project in MindView.

MindView 5 now supports individual resource calendars, letting you define the working and non-working time of each of your resources making your scheduling more accurate. Together with the project calendar, the resource calendars determine when work on the different tasks can be allowed to happen.

When defining the list of the resources to be used in your project, you can now associate a unit cost to each resource, letting you track the overall cost of the project. In addition to human resources, MindView 5 supports material resources that you need to carry out the project. Associating a unit cost to material resources lets you track the overall cost of your project in human as well as in material resources.

Work and Cost Branch Data

When viewing a project, you can now display a tasks overall work value, actual work value to date, and remaining work value directly on the branch. You can also display overall cost of the task, actual cost to date, and remaining cost. Use these values in the re-designed calculation module, helping to keep projects on budget.

MindView 5 now supports effort-driven scheduling, as well as task types such as Fixed Work, Fixed Duration and Fixed Units. This improves your scheduling capabilities, and is supported in the Microsoft Project integration.

Inactive Tasks

If you want to keep a task in your project plan, but prevent it from affecting the project scheduling, you can now make it inactive. This can be useful if you are forced to remove some tasks from your project for budget or deadline reasons, but want to keep a record of them.

WBS Numbering Scheme

It is common for Work Breakdown Structure elements to be numbered sequentially to visualize the hierarchical structure. MindView 5 now allows you to associate the Root branch as number 1, and the Main branches as 1.1, 1.2, etc…

Enhanced MS Project Integration

When exporting your Work Breakdown Structure to MS Project, it is important that the new scheduling data is included. MindView 5's MS Project integration now supports:

  • Costs are exported/imported
  • Work is exported
  • Currency symbol, decimals and placement are exported/imported
  • Effort-Driven Tasks are exported/imported
  • Task Types are exported/imported: fixed duration/fixed work/fixed units
  • Inactive task states are exported/imported

MindView 5 has improved the visualization and grouping of branches by introducing Legends into the interface. You can use colors or icons to distinguish branch relationships, organizational grouping and to help team members better understand your mind map. Include the Legends when printing your map to further assist viewers in understanding your map.

When working on a large map, it may be difficult to locate and navigate to important branches. MindView 5 allows you to insert Map Nav Pins on specific branches, allowing you to easily locate and navigate to such topics as needed.

The Calculation module has been completely revamped in MindView 5. Add Constants and Formulas under Defaults and apply them throughout the map branches. The available functions have been grouped under three different categories according to their purpose for quick access, namely Sub-Branches, Math & Trig and Financial.

Narrate Selected Text

The ability to have branch text read aloud is a powerful new addition to MindView 5. Whether you are a special needs user or presenting a map in a group setting, the new Narrate feature allows you to select specific branches(s), notes or comments in the mind map and have MindView read the information aloud.

Document Statistics

To better assist in overviewing the amount of data you have included in your mind map, MindView 5 allows you to view Document Statistics such as Word Count, Branch Count and more. This is great for students and professionals that need to ascertain the amount of data included in their MindView file.

High Contrast Mode

MindView 5 supports the standard High Contrast mode included in Windows. This is perfect for users that require software to function in high contrast mode. There are even new map styles designed specifically to work in high contrast mode, further improving the usability of MindView.
