      • Girls: tend to play around the theme of domestic life and family; usually play with dolls, houses, and dress up clothes
      • Boys: usually play with transportation toys, weapons, and building material
    • Types of Play
      • Girls:tend to play house or doctors office due to the realistic themes; able to adjust their volume and their play due to environment;
      • Boys: during symbolic play they tend to be heroes or soldiers; boys are more likely to play rough and play physically; also hard for them to understand that volume levels and activities must change due to being indoor or outdoors
      • Both: involved in creative/ constructive play such s drawing, painting, and puzzles
    • Play Companies
      • Girls: show interest in same sex play earlier, by they're 3 years old they already want to play in small groups with other little girls
      • Boys: do not show the want to interact with other boys u til hey are 4 and they interact in large groups and make sure that they are separated from the girls
    • Location of Play
      • Girls:prefer being indoor and close to home; spend more time near the adult supervising them
      • Boys: tend to play outdoors, away from adult supervision; take up to 10x more space to play than girls
