  • TextHelp R&W Training Session
    • Set up Zoom meeting
      • Copy password and URL from Zoom
      • Copy PW and URL into invite email to student
      • Move relevant guides and admin files which require signatures to desktop
    • Fill in Icebreaker - (Emotional/Physical/Disability/Learning
    • Ask Student to RIGHT CLICK on TextHelp R&W icon and Pin to Taskbar open TextHelp R&W on their PC
      • Ask Student to OPEN TextHelp R&W on their PC
      • Check version number in About Read&Write
      • Make note of Student's licence key (may be on their log in on little man's head) or in the email they received
      • Check for software updates> essentials.texthelp.com > Enter Licence Key
    • Toolbar movement - side/top/minimise/docking and show/hide icon
    • Open some documents
      • Word Doc - Save as Word Test
      • PDF - Save as PDF Test
      • Website - One with text images
    • Toolbar Setup
      • Settings > General > button size > button colour > show text on toolbar
      • Settings > General > scroll down to Features - which icons on toolbar
      • Settings > General > scroll down to Features > Keyboard Shortcuts
    • Voice and Speech Highlighting Set up
      • Settings > Speech > Voice > scroll down to Speech Highlighting > Choose colours
    • Compare Check It to Spell Check and CHOOSE which one want on toolbar
      • Check it
      • Spell Check
    • Similar Word Checker - identifies commonly confused words
    • Prediction - gives list of words to choose from as predictive text
      • Word Banks - create list of words to be included in prediction list which are relevant to your course
    • Dictionary - to find meaning of word
      • Picture Dictionary - image of word
    • Play Keys - Use Word Doc/PDF Doc and Website with Image as Text
    • Screenshot Reader - reads text which can't be read by clicking play E.g. text in pictures/PDF files BUT, ONLY DOES SCREEN SIZE
    • Scan - converts text from a paper document or a PDF document to a Word document - once converted can be read aloud using play button

    • Research Folder - collect research work in one place
    • Audio Maker - Listen to audio file for revision notes/articles etc.
    • Screen Masking - Makes reading on screen easier E.g. reduces glare/masks distracting areas/change colour of screen - ASK STUDENT TO HALF THEIR SCREEN USING WINDOWS/ARROW KEYS WITH DOC AND PROGRAMME SO THEY CAN SEE THE EFFECT
      • Tint whole screen - Whole of PC screen AND option to have reading light on/off (strip of different colour where cursor is)
      • Underline typing line - coloured line under typing
      • Tint typing line = coloured line on top of typing
      • Change page colour - changes colour to reduce glare or white background - same can be done on word: File > Design > choose colour
      • Underline cursor - coloured line under cursor
    • Talk & Type = Converts words you speak into text in your document
    • Translator - Translates text to a different language - MUST be connected to Internet
    • PDF Reader - Allows PDF docs to be read to you
    • Highlights - highlights important information in document/web AND collects highlights together in a new document
    • Vocabulary List - makes a word list with definition, picture and comments box - could be good for revision?
    • Voice Note - add voice note as a comment to the side of document or into a document or power point
    • Help - show Student Help icon on toolbar and ask them to click on any feature of the help menu to demonstrate
    • Video Tours - show Student Video Tours icon on toolbar and ask them to go to one of the webinars
    • Have Student sign time sheet and send relevant documents/guides - Book next session
